After successfully delivering PowerBuilder Developer’s Journal to Powersoft customers — and then accidentally launching Java Developer’s Journal just six months later — we were always on the lookout for the next opportunity.

I honestly don’t remember exactly how ColdFusion Developer’s Journal came to fruition. What I do remember is walking past Robert’s desk one day and saying, “Robert, congratulations. You’re the editor of CFDJ. Please gather the content for the first issue and put it together with Alex.”
And just like that, we launched ColdFusion Developer’s Journal.
From its very first issue, CFDJ quickly became popular among ColdFusion developers and profitable for us as well. During that period, we also published several ColdFusion-related books.

Ben Forta, one of the most recognized names in the ColdFusion community, became a regular columnist for the magazine. We even achieved a record sell-through rate on newsstands — further proof that this accidental formula kept working.

After Macromedia acquired Allaire, we became the go-to magazine publisher for Macromedia’s developer community with our flagship title, MX Developer’s Journal. At its peak, we published MX Developer’s Journal in four additional languages — French, Korean, Mandarin, and Cantonese Chinese.
